I have gotten very good at entertaining myself, since my roommate Shantel is constantly on dates. And as you know, she is my life. So when she is gone, I have no life. This happens just about every night. Not kidding; last Sunday it was like "Oh, where did Shantel go? Oh, she's over at some guy's apartment making some crepes or something? Oh." She'll go out with a guy and I sit in my room, on the floor, staring at the wall. The roles are never reversed. Because I have been on one date the entire time I've been here. And she was there too. I guess in a way this is good, because it means I won't be getting married in December, contrary to popular BYU stereotype. But at the same time, it means I never eat. Besides canned food and ramen.
But this situation brings up a very important question. What I am supposed to do for the hours upon endless hours that I spend alone in a dark corner of my apartment? I mean, homework and studying will only last me so long, even with 18 credit hours. (Yeah, I know, I'm crazy.)
So what have I found to entertain myself? Well, first there is, of course, this fabulous blog. And the ever popular Facebook. Also, Photo Booth. You can entertain yourself for HOURS with that thing:
Then there's the non-technological devices. Sometimes I draw pictures. Sometimes I make origami out of sticky notes (anyone want a paper crane?). A lot of the time I clean (my mom is probably crying with joy as she reads this. What? Kimberly cleaning for fun?? It's a miracle!!). I also read my scriptures and prepare my church lessons. Also, sometimes I spend hours staring out the window at our beautiful view.
But what are the best ways to entertain yourself in Provo, not just in your dorm room? If you have a car, you can drive to Timpanogos Cave and hike it. Hike the Y. Go out to eat. Go get ice cream at the Creamery Outlet. Go to ballroom dance club (basically a giant stake dance). Attend True Blue Football--aka become a Smurf for the day. Sign up for more classes! Go to devotionals. Ride scooters around campus (not advised; it's against the rules. Although I have done it before... oops). Take a walk to the duck pond. Sit in the courtyard of the JFSB and read. Hang out in the WILK. Get some ice cream at the CougarEat. Go to ward activities. Try to move furniture from the 2nd floor activity room to your apartment on the 4th floor. Go to the Creamery and eat more ice cream. Take pictures of the beautiful mountains. And then go buy some more ice cream.
Soooo pretty.
That's all for now. I'm gonna go get some ice cream.
